On the northern side of Hook Island is Pinnacle Bay. Pinnacle Bay has a few dive sites which are considered to be the best dive sites of the Whitsundays. There are heaps of beautiful great hard corals to be found. Giant Maori wrasse, parrot fish, lionfish, nudibranchs, flatworms, butterfly fish and many more species are living on the reefs around the island and in the bay. The majestic manta rays are common between May and October. The dive sites in Pinnacle Bay slope from 5 meter deep down to around 21 meters deep. The coral bommies will rise up to three meters below the surface and that's why this dive spot is also very nice for snorkelers. During strong south east winds it can be a bit uncomfortable to anchor in Pinnacle Bay.
