Bramble Cay is a small sand cay in the northernmost part of the Great Barrier Reef, with Papua New Guinea in the north and several other reefs in the south separated by Bligh Channel. Easily recognized because of a small lighthouse which was first erected here in 1924 and again in 1987 after too many shipwrecks. Bramble Cay is a breeding place for many green turtles which is a wonderful experience if you happen to be diving here when the eggs are hatched. Furthermore, the sea is rich of algae, which attract algae loving species such as trumpetfish, wrasse and unicornfish. This cay makes for one of the best and most remote scuba diving destination in the world, often visited by live-aboard tours visiting Papua New Guinea.
