There are plenty of dive sites this close to Home Island, the most densely inhabited island of the Cocos Keeling Islands. Home Island is where most locals reside and where you can experience Cocos-Malay culture in its pure form. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping facilities. The small island to the north of Home Island is Pulu Beras (rice island) or Prison Island which used to be a place for convicts and their guards. Scuba diving around Home Island is limited as most tourists are located in nice resort and/or bungalow typed accommodations on West Island.
