Most visitors will know Direction Island as the place where you can snorkel at one of the worlds most spectacular snorkeling site called the Rip. As you put on your snorkel, mask and fins and take a short swim offshore, that's where all the action of the Rip starts. Enjoy the currents that make you fly across the beautiful reefs less than two meters below. You'll see all kinds of coral reef fishes, turtles if lucky and beautiful anemones and coral formations. There are plenty of dives in the area, but since nobody actually lives on Direction Island, most scuba divers will reach them by boat from their home stay, either Home Island or West Island. Its the island of great contrasts, on one hand you see anchorage of huge around the world cruises and not far away you can go camping if you are fully self serviced as there is not even drinking water and electricity on Direction Island.
