Best dive-season / How to get there: At 8 miles off the Peron Peninsula in the western gulf on a direct line from Denham to Sandy point on Dirk Hartog, you will find dive site Bar Flats. The coral is surrounded by sand and there are rubble and sand areas to anchor on to avoid damaging the reef. Site is in the Shark Bay Marine Park.

The area of Bar Flats consists out of patchy corals over sand. It is a popular fishing site so care is needed (make sure you have flags up) and some of the larger fish are missing. There is lots of anemone fish, coral trout, baldchin groper. Corals are wide spread with lots of sponges as well. Like many Shark Bay sites it is shallow but that gives you more time to see what's about.
