Founded in 1829, with most old buildings built by convicts, it was during the gold discovery in 1890 that Perth really grow. The smaller town Freemantle became economic thriving when they decided to built an artificial harbor, making it the harbor of Perth as well. Today both are bustling cities and popular destinations for tourists around the world. There are excellent shopping malls, art exhibits and entertainment in the form of aboriginal culture and dance.
