Broughton Island National Park can be found slightly northeast of Port Stephens, halfway from Hawks Nest to Seal Rocks on the Mungo Brush Road. Together with Looking Glass Isle, Little Broughton Island Nature Reserve, Stormpetrel Island Nature Reserves and a few more islands to the north, they are part of the Myall Lakes National Park. These windswept green islands offer all from nice sandy beaches to excellent walking tracks, steep cliffs and scenic viewpoints. You can even see Cabbage Tree Island and Yaccaba Head from its highest hill. Diving, snorkeling and walking tours are easily arranged from Port Stephens and will give a good impression of this fantastic place.

Besides scuba diving and snorkeling, you can also enjoy its many species of birds. There are nesting areas of sea gulls, mutton birds and silver gulls, especially in summer on the south side. There are several dive and snorkeling sites around the island. You can dive with pelagic species, snapper, grouper and flathead but there are also interesting caverns and coral gardens.
